There are currently 996 geocaches, 71 of which are puzzles, within a 50km radius of the event and many more enroute… so time to get those code breaking books out and planning roadtrips routes and your cachemobile buddies.


The local council do not allow freedom camping, so to avoid the $1,000 fine accommodation at a campground, hotel or airb&b should get booked.

Please make sure that you make it to "The Beach Clean Up" briefing at 8am. This is where we intend to have our official photo. Megas and large events are no longer aloud "Flash Mob events" during their schedule as this is cosidered event stacking.

 

 


8.00 am our event begins... Access by car is via Waitaki Avenue. Our crew will guide you to car parks at the venue.  If you get there earlier please use the parking via the right, turning inside the gate.

There will be a wedding held at the Memorial Hall on Saturday. Please respect the signs and tape so as not to disturb the wedding.

You will be able to pick up items that you have purchased from the shop. Kiwi Caching will have their own shop operating most of the event.

At 9am there will be opportunity to meet two of our New Zealand reviewers.

​

Great news if you are a cyclist and going to Oamaru Geofest....Alps2Ocean Cycle Hire.... has teamed up with us to offer a shuttle and or rental service. 

We have organised a group of 8 that will be leaving at 11am on Saturday.  I have left the link button here for those who leave things to the last minute.  It will link you to this service so that you can make your own arrangement
Prices are:

 

Shuttle to Duntroon/Windsor/Weston is $100 for one person or $30 each for 4+ people.

If you prefer to learn more about our craft or just chat. We have meet the reviewers, pathtag swapping, a workshop on puzzles, 2 talks on Project Geocaching and a talk on GSAK on at our venue during the day.

​

If the weather cooperates we will have a picnic in the school grounds.  There is a lovely spot for such an occasion.

 

End the day with our Quiz.  Quiz teams are being organised.  If you have not organised a table or a team, you can still participate but will need to use the teared seating for your team.

Sunday 9.30am -Steaming it up our steampunk competition which the locals would enjoy – we have someone from Steampunk HQ in to judge – so it would be great to have plenty of entries. Please let us know which catergory(ies) you wish to enter - Costume youth/ adult - Container -

Go out for lunch and find out what is happening in Wellington Labour Weekend 2018 (WENZ are hosting an event)

With bellies come back to the auditorium or goto the T# CITO and plant some trees.

Finally we end with our prize giving.  Prizes will be given for a long list of things....
